The Yellowstone Quake relied on the scoring touch of George Splichal, who netted two goals, to beat the Billings Bulls, 4-1. Splichal found the back of the net on the power play 7:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Yellowstone and again while on the power play 18:01 into the third to make the score 4-1 Yellowstone.Yellowstone excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Quake's offense rang up 46 shots on Billings' net. Yellowstone also got a goal from Chris Andre as well. More assists for Yellowstone came via Jimmy Tich, Mitchell Fehd, Sam Basich, and TJ Lozier, who each chipped in one and Cameron Hardiek and Michael Berens, who contributed two a piece. The Bulls racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. Billings had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Bulls were led by Alex Herman, who scored the team's only goal. Herman scored 9:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Yellowstone's Jared Schletty stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Quake incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Taylor Kruiswyk made 42 saves for Billings on 46 shots.
