Missoula squeaks by Yellowstone, 6-4

The Missoula Maulers and the Yellowstone Quake were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Missoula made the most of its opportunities and won, 6-4.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Zach Paisley secured the win for the Maulers with a goal in the third period.

Michael Cummings was all over the ice for Missoula, as he registered two goals in the win. Cummings' tallies came at 1:34 into the third period to make the score 3-3 and 19:41 into the third to make the score 6-4 Missoula.

The Maulers forced Yellowstone goalie Jared Schletty to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Missoula capitalized on the Quake's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

Missoula additionally got points from Paisley, who also had one goal and one assist, Paigg Maul, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Brett Mathews, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Missoula also got a goal from Cody Ogrin as well. More assists for Missoula came via Donovan Mattfeldt, who had five and Tyler Zandhuisen and Anders Nord, who contributed one a piece.

The Maulers were unable to stop Yellowstone from sending pucks towards the net, and the Quake eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Yellowstone was led by George Splichal, who registered three goals and one assist. Yellowstone also got points from James Pyle, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Oli Jansson, who had two and Kyle Sandera, Jimmy Tich, Sam Basich, and Shane Fabian, who each chipped in one.

Mckinlee Baum made 29 saves for Missoula on 33 shots. The Maulers incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Quake's Schletty stopped 37 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Yellowstone incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
