Gillette downs Yellowstone in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Campbell County Ice Arena Sat, Nov 24, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Tyler Cavan gave the Gillette Wild a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Yellowstone Quake when he scored 3:20 into the extra period. Gillette forced Yellowstone goalie Jared Schletty to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Gillette additionally got points from Moco Willis, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Taylor Motsinger, who also had one goal and four assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Gillette were Matt Rose, who had two. The Quake's offense rang up 36 shots on the Wild's net. Yellowstone found itself short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays. The Quake were led by TJ Lozier, who registered two goals. Lozier scored the first of his two goals at 13:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Yellowstone. James Pyle picked up the assist. Lozier's next tally made the score 3-2 Yellowstone with 11:46 left in the second period. Yellowstone was on a disadvantage when Anthony Leong went off the ice for checking from behind. George Splichal assisted on the tally. Yellowstone also got points from Splichal, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cameron Hardiek also scored for Yellowstone. More assists for Yellowstone came via Michael Berens, Mitchell Fehd, and Sam Basich, who contributed one a piece. Gillette's Brandon Kruckenberg stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Wild incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Schletty rejected 46 shots on goal for the Quake. Yellowstone registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. For the Quake, Berens was ejected from the game.
