Helena rips Great Falls, 7-0

The Great Falls Americans had trouble finding ways to stop the Helena Bighorns, which beat Americans, 7-0.

Corbin Belling had a great game for Helena, netting two goals. Belling found the back of the net 6:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Helena and again while 19:02 into the second to make the score 3-0 Helena.

The Bighorns pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Helena stifled Great Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bighorns forced the Americans goalie Erik Powell to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

Helena also got points from Matt Mohar, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Damon Hanson also scored for Helena. In addition, Helena received assists from Christian Axelson, who had three, Kyle Baker, Devin Smith, Logan Henne, and Nick Okada, who each chipped in one, and Brandon Rumble, Dylan Webster, and Parker Olson, who contributed two a piece.

Great Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Helena power plays. The Americans could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Great Falls averages 2.9 goals per game. Helena's defense shut down the Americans' forwards for much of the game, and Great Falls got off only 11 shots during the contest.

Jett Salinas recorded 11 saves for the Bighorns. Erik Powell made 42 saves for the Americans on 49 shots. Great Falls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
