Brett Mathews netted a hat trick to lead the Missoula Maulers over the Bozeman Icedogs, 7-0. Mathews' first goal came 8:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 19 seconds into the third and at 14:26 into the third.Missoula excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Maulers' defensive play was more effective than usual against Bozeman. Missoula allows 2.8 goals per game. The Maulers' offense rang up 46 shots on the Icedogs' net. Missoula also got points from Zach Paisley, who also had one goal and two assists. Missoula also got a goal from Joey Sundgren as well. In addition, Missoula received assists from Dustin Pierce, Paigg Maul, and Anders Nord, who each chipped in one. Bozeman's offense was handcuffed by Missoula's defensive play, and the Icedogs managed only 13 shots on goal during the game. Mckinlee Baum made 13 saves for the Maulers on 13 shots. Missoula incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. John Shavic rejected 39 shots on goal for Bozeman. The Icedogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
