Early goals doom Bozeman, falls to Helena, 11-1

The Bozeman Icedogs fell behind early, and the Helena Bighorns kept piling on the points on the way to an 11-1 victory.

Dylan Webster was all over the ice for Helena, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Webster scored the first of his two goals at 10:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Helena. Logan Henne picked up the assist. Webster's next tally made the score 4-1 Helena with 7:29 left in the first period. Henne provided the assist.

The Bighorns put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bozeman to score on any of its three power plays. Helena's offense rang up 46 shots on the Icedogs' net. The Bighorns outdid their season average for goals scored. Helena averages 8.1 goals per game.

Helena also got points from Theo Campe, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Damon Hanson, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Jacob Wolter, who also had one goal and two assists, and Nick Okada, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Helena included Parker Olson, who had one and Ben Henne, who had three. In addition, Helena received assists from Devin Smith and Logan Hawgood, who each chipped in one and Brandon Rumble, Christian Axelson, Kyle Baker, and Kevin Choi, who contributed two a piece.

Bozeman excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Icedogs were led by Steven Nisbet, who scored the team's only goal. Nisbet scored 3:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Trent Carter assisted on the tally.

The Bighorns' Troy Turpin stopped 17 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Helena incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jude Hall made 35 saves for Bozeman on 46 shots. The Icedogs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
