Taylor Motsinger netted a hat trick to lead the Gillette Wild over the Missoula Maulers, 7-6. Motsinger got on the scoresheet 6:12 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:49 into the first and at 19:04 into the third.Gillette racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Wild had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Gillette made Maulers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 46 shots and forcing 39 saves. Mckinlee Baum made zero stops and Cody Janzen made 39. The Wild found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Gillette averages 4.9 goals per game. Gillette additionally got points from Tyler Cavan, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Gillette also got a goal from Boris Knyazev as well. More assists for Gillette came via Ronnie Wilshusen and Bobby Solari, who each chipped in one and Moco Willis and Matt Rose, who contributed two a piece. Missoula's offense rang up 49 shots on the Wild's net. The Maulers were helped by Brock Brothers, who had two goals. Brothers scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:19 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Missoula. Missoula earned a power play opportunity when Darren Banks was put in the box for interference. Dylan Chase picked up the assist. Brothers' next tally on the power play made the score 5-5 with 7:48 left in the third period. Paigg Maul assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Missoula included Zach Paisley, who had two and Anders Nord and Michael Cummings, who scored one goal each. In addition, Missoula received assists from Brett Mathews and Jordan Wheatley, who each chipped in one and Tyler Zandhuisen and Joey Sundgren, who contributed two a piece. Gillette's Nick Vittori stopped 43 shots out of the 49 that he faced. The Wild registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Gillette ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Banks was ejected from the game. The Maulers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
