Wolter's big game bests Bozeman in 11-1 Helena win

The Helena Bighorns were firing on all cylinders against the Bozeman Icedogs, and when the final buzzer sounded Bighorns emerged with an 11-1 win.

Helena made Icedogs' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 45 shots and forcing 34 saves. John Shavic made 21 stops and Jude Hull made 13. The Bighorns' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Helena averages 8.0 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Bighorns were also effective in Bozeman's zone, and came away with two goals.

Helena was helped by Jacob Wolter, who racked up one goal and two assists. Wolter scored 7:52 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Helena. Sean Stahlnecker assisted on the tally. Helena additionally got points from Theo Campe, who also registered one goal and two assists, Brandon Rumble, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Damon Hanson, who also had one goal and one assist, Dylan Webster, who also racked up two goals and two assists, Parker Olson, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Corbin Belling, who also tallied two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Kyle Baker also scored for Helena. In addition, Helena received assists from John Petersson and Kevin Choi, who contributed one a piece and Devin Smith and Ben Henne, who each chipped in two.

The Icedogs managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Bozeman ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game.

Bozeman also got a goal from Trent Carter as well. More assists for Bozeman came via Christian Schreckengosto and Ben Henry, who contributed one a piece.

Alek Lazarski recorded 15 saves for the Bighorns. Helena incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. The Icedogs registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
