Dillinger's hat trick boosts Gillette over Bozeman, 12-1Campbell County Ice Arena Fri, Nov 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Trent Dillinger lifted the Gillette Wild to a 12-1 victory with a hat trick against the Bozeman Icedogs. Dillinger's first goal came 3:40 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:08 into the second and at 14:36 into the second.Bozeman's power play was ineffective against Gillette's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Wild racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Gillette surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Wild made Icedogs' goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 60 shots and forcing 48 saves. Jude Hall made nine stops and John Shavic made 39. Gillette stifled the Icedogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wild's goal total was higher than their season average. Gillette averages 4.7 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Gillette also got points from Ronnie Wilshusen, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Matt Kramer, who also registered one goal and one assist, Moco Willis, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Matt Rose, who also had one goal and one assist, Taylor Motsinger, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Boris Knyazev, who also registered one goal and one assist. Gillette also got a goal from Tyler Cavan as well. More assists for Gillette came via Tj Mcminn, Dylan Martinez, Bobby Solari, and Darren Banks, who contributed one a piece and Adam Pecht and Tyler Johnson, who each chipped in two. Bozeman put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Wild to score on any of their three power plays. The Icedogs were led by Ben Henry, who scored the team's only goal. Henry scored 1:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bozeman. Jesse Game picked up the assist. Sean Kelley took the win and made 21 saves before being replaced by Brandon Kruckenberg who made four saves. Gillette ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Willis was ejected from the game. Bozeman incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
