The Missoula Maulers jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Bozeman Icedogs, 8-1. Missoula was led by Cody Ogrin, who had one goal. Ogrin scored 3:41 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Missoula. Brett Mathews assisted on the tally. Bozeman was unable to stop the Maulers from sending pucks towards the net, and Missoula eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. The Maulers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Missoula averages 5.3 goals per game. Missoula additionally got points from Zach Paisley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Mathews, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Michael Cummings, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Missoula also got a goal from Gabe Whiteman-Jones as well. In addition, Missoula received assists from Jordan Wheatley, who had two and Tyler Zandhuisen, Dylan Chase, Paigg Maul, Anders Nord, Donovan Mattfeldt, and Connor McNally, who each chipped in one. The Icedogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Maulers' Cody Janzen stopped 15 shots out of the 16 that he faced. Missoula incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. John Shavic recorded 39 saves for Bozeman. The Icedogs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
