Sundgren leads Missoula over Bozeman, 12-1

Joey Sundgren had one goal and three assists to lead the Missoula Maulers to a 12-1 victory over the Bozeman Icedogs.

Sundgren got on the board by slotting home a goal 12:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Missoula. Zach Paisley picked up the assist. Sundgren dished an assist on Paisley's goal that made the score 4-0 Missoula at 3:08 into the second period. He then added assists on Brett Mathews' goal at 14:51 into the second and on Paisley's goal at 16:07 into the third.

Bozeman's power play was ineffective against Missoula's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Icedogs were unable to stop the Maulers from sending pucks towards the net, and Missoula eventually piled up 63 shots on goal. The Maulers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Missoula averages 6.1 goals per contest.

Missoula additionally got points from Gabe Whiteman-Jones, who also tallied two goals and two assists, Paisley, who also finished with two goals and two assists, Mathews, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, and Michael Cummings, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Missoula also had goals scored by Donovan Mattfeldt, who had one and Jordan Wheatley, who had three. In addition, Missoula received assists from Dylan Chase, Dustin Pierce, and Cody Ogrin, who each chipped in one and Paigg Maul and Viktor Steenson, who contributed two a piece.

Bozeman did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 11 shots on net to force 10 saves.

Mckinlee Baum recorded 10 saves for the Maulers. Missoula totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Jude Hull made 51 saves for the Icedogs on 63 shots. Bozeman incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
