Gillette downs Helena in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Tyler Cavan gave Gillette a 4-3 (OT) victory over Helena when he scored 4:38 into the extra period.

Gillette overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Gillette was down 3-1 after a goal by Helena's Theo Campe at 1:22 in the third period. Gillette tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Taylor Motsinger at 14:40 in the third period.

Cavan had one goal and two assists to lead Gillette.

Gillette excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Gillette's offense rang up 41 shots on Helena's net.

Gillette additionally got points from Motsinger, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Gillette also got a goal from Matt Rose as well. More assists for Gillette came via Ronnie Wilshusen, Tyler Johnson, and Darren Banks, who contributed one a piece.

Gillette was unable to stop Helena from sending pucks towards the net, and Helena eventually piled up 87 shots on goal.

Helena was helped by Ben Henne, who tallied one goal. Henne scored 29 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Helena. Christian Axelson picked up the assist. Helena also got points from Axelson, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Helena received assists from Brandon Rumble, Parker Olson, Kyle Baker, John Petersson, and Kevin Choi, who each chipped in one.

Nick Vittori made 84 saves for Gillette on 87 shots. Gillette totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play. Troy Turpin rejected 37 shots on goal for Helena. Helena ended with 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors.
