Gillette's comeback falls short, Yellowstone wins 6-4

The Yellowstone Quake, who led by five goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Yellowstone and clinched a 6-4 victory.

The Quake led by five goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Yellowstone's Chris Andre's scored at 19:43 in the second period to put the Quake up 5-0.

Yellowstone forced Wild's goalies to work in net, finishing with 51 shots and forcing 45 saves. Nick Vittori made 28 stops and Brandon Kruckenberg made 17.

The Quake were helped by Sam Basich, who registered one goal and one assist. Basich scored 18:22 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Yellowstone. Brandon Busse provided the assist. Yellowstone also got points from Busse, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Michael Berens also scored for Yellowstone. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Anthony Leong, who had two and Tanner Fricke, Colin Tittle, George Splichal, Cameron Hardiek, Bryan Standly, and Josh Neumann, who contributed one a piece.

Yellowstone was unable to stop the Gillette Wild from sending pucks towards the net, and Gillette eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

The Wild were helped by Boris Knyazev, who racked up one goal. Knyazev scored 5:04 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Yellowstone. Adam Pecht picked up the assist. Gillette also got a goal from Steve Patafio as well. More assists for Gillette came via Trent Dillinger, Nick Mead, Taylor Motsinger, Tyler Johnson, Darren Banks, Brandon Castleberry, and Ethan Hicks, who each chipped in one.

Trevor Zangs rejected 40 shots on goal for the Quake. Yellowstone totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Gillette totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
