Picton wins tough contest against Napanee, 6-4Strathcona Paper Tue, Feb 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Picton Pirates escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Napanee Raiders. Picton gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kenny Murduff 16:09 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The Pirates' offense rang up 54 shots on Napanee's net. Picton additionally got points from Ryan Sizer, who also registered one goal and one assist and Tyler Kearns, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Nolan Powers also scored for Picton. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Mitchell Smith, who had one, Jack Davison, who had two, and Levi George, who had three. The Raiders forced Pirates' goaltenders to work in net, finishing with 34 shots and forcing 30 saves. Andrew Pearson made zero stops and Adam Wood made 30. Napanee was led by Bud Norris, who tallied two goals. Norris scored the first of his two goals at 1:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. Evan Brown assisted on the tally. Norris' next tally made the score 4-4 with 17:55 left in the third period. Jesse Lloyd provided the assist. Napanee also got a goal from Chris Doyle as well. More assists for Napanee came via Colin Childerhose, Zach Knapp-Hermer, Josh St.Peter, Donny Emmons, and Adam Shulist, who contributed one a piece. Picton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kyle Copeland rejected 48 shots on goal for the Raiders. Napanee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
