Picton beats Amherstview 5-0 as Pearson gains shutout

Andrew Pearson recorded a shutout against the Amherstview Jets as the Picton Pirates picked up a 5-0 win.

Picton was paced by Ryan Sizer, who finished with one goal and one assist. Sizer scored 1:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Picton. Nolan Powers assisted on the tally.

The Pirates excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Picton's offense rang up 53 shots on Amherstview's net.

Picton additionally got points from Jack Davison, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points and Evan Greer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Brandon Peever also scored for Picton. More assists for Picton came via Braeden Walsh, Kenny Murduff, and Cole Bolton, who each chipped in one.

The Jets did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Amherstview averages 4.1 goals per game. The Jets kept the Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Pearson made 38 saves on 38 shots.

Picton totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. The Pirates ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Geoff Cleminson was ejected from the game. Amherstview's Troy Paquette stopped 48 shots out of the 53 that he faced. The Jets ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Amherstview, Sam Paxton was ejected from the game.
