Bolton leads Picton over Napanee, 10-3Prince Edward Thu, Jan 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-3 win over the Napanee Raiders. Picton pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 36 penalty minutes. The Pirates forced Napanee's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 68 shots and forcing 58 saves. Kyle Copeland made 18 stops and Mike Brogee made 40. Picton managed to hold the Raiders' power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. The Pirates surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Picton averages 5.8 goals per contest. The Pirates were led by Cole Bolton, who racked up two goals and two assists. Bolton scored the first of his two goals at 14:27 into the first period to make the score 4-1 Picton. Tyler Kearns provided the assist. Bolton's next tally made the score 7-1 Picton with 11:05 left in the second period. Evan Greer assisted on the tally. Picton additionally got points from Nolan Powers, who also registered one goal and one assist, Greer, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Brian Bunnett, who also had two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Picton included Geoff Cleminson, who had two and Nolan Van Vlack and Ryan Sizer, who each put in one. In addition, Picton received assists from Kenny Murduff, who had two, Levi George, who had three, and Brandon Peever, Jack Davison, Jacob Panetta, and Mitchell Smith, who each chipped in one. Napanee kept Picton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Pearson made 32 saves on 35 shots. The Raiders were helped by Jesse Lloyd, who tallied one goal. Lloyd scored 9:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Luke Emmons provided the assist. Napanee also got points from Bud Norris, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Napanee also got a goal from Evan Brown as well. More assists for Napanee came via Andre Frappier, who had two and Chris Doyle and Zach Knapp-Hermer, who contributed one a piece. The Pirates registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Picton, Brad Jacklin was ejected from the game. Napanee incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
