Napanee holds on for 5-4 win against DeserontoDeseronto & District CC Fri, Jan 04, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Deseronto Storm tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Napanee Raiders held on for a 5-4 victory. Napanee made the score 5-2 on a goal by Joel Ferland at 12:16 in the second period, and Deseronto got as close as 5-4 when Brandon Turner scored 5:08 into the third period. Donny Emmons was all over the ice for the Raiders, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Emmons scored on the power play 12:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Napanee. Napanee had gotten the advantage when the Storm's Chris Rogalsky was sent off for slashing. Chris Doyle provided the assist. The Raiders stifled Deseronto's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Napanee forced the Storm goalie Ben Elliot to work between the pipes, taking 67 shots. Napanee also got points from Luke Emmons, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and mitch pearce, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Bud Norris also scored for Napanee. More assists for Napanee came via Jesse Lloyd, who had one. The Raiders were unable to stop Deseronto from sending pucks towards the net, and the Storm eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Deseronto was helped by Jordan Cannons, who had one goal. Cannons scored 1:48 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Napanee. Alex McConnell assisted on the tally. Deseronto additionally got points from Riley Muise, who also registered one goal and one assist and Turner, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Deseronto also got a goal from nick ferguson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Deseronto were Brandon Torres, Conrad Charlton, and Jared Boomhower, who contributed one a piece. Kyle Copeland rejected 33 shots on goal for Napanee. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Storm's Elliot stopped 62 shots out of the 67 that he faced. Deseronto incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
