Port Hope rolls over Deseronto, 10-2Deseronto & District CC Fri, Dec 28, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Hope Panthers had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-2 win over the Deseronto Storm. Josh Fagan quarterbacked Port Hope's offense to perfection and bagged three assists in the Panthers' win over Deseronto. Port Hope's penalty kill excelled, as the Panthers gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays. Port Hope stifled the Storm's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Panthers kept Deseronto's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cody Dafoe made 96 saves on 106 shots. Port Hope surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Panthers have scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Port Hope could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. Port Hope additionally got points from Ryan DeGuerre, who also had one goal and one assist, Ryan Hickey, who also registered one goal and two assists, Josh Fulford, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Keifer Macinnis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Port Hope also had goals scored by Hayden Verge and Chris Jones, who each put in one and Dalton Lawrence and Dan Lagrois, who scored two goals each. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Ryan Wilkinson, who had two, Brad Heykoop, who had three, and Jacob Spicer, Calibe Oliver, and Shawn Mackie, who each chipped in one. The Storm put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Panthers to score on any of their 12 power plays. Deseronto was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 40 penalty minutes. Port Hope's Wayne Fryer stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced.
