Campbellford rips Port Hope, 7-2

The Campbellford Rebels had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Port Hope Panthers.

Campbellford pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The Rebels were led by Jackson Bellemy, who registered one goal. Bellemy scored 16:56 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Campbellford. Ryan Crowley provided the assist.

Campbellford forced Panthers' goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 40 shots and forcing 33 saves. Wayne Fryer made 23 stops and Colin Goody made 10. The Rebels' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Port Hope power plays. Campbellford surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Rebels average 4.9 goals per contest.

Campbellford additionally got points from Crowley, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Campbellford included Hunter Fargey, who had two and Josh Adams, Mitch Gibson, and Tyler McKown, who scored one goal each. More assists for Campbellford came via Jon Samis, Dylan Baxter, and Kenny Turcotte, who each chipped in one and Steven Clarke, Seamus McDougall, and Tim Pandachuck, who contributed two a piece.

Port Hope stifled Campbellford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Panthers' offense operated below they season average. Port Hope averages 4.3 goals per game. The Rebels were unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Hope eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

The Panthers were led by Jacob Spicer, who racked up one goal. Spicer scored 10:16 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Campbellford. Ryan Wilkinson assisted on the tally. Ryan Hickey also scored for Port Hope. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Kyle Sullivan, who had one.

Cole Mahoney made 47 saves for Campbellford on 49 shots. The Rebels registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Port Hope incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
