Picton blows out Amherstview, 5-1

The Amherstview Jets had trouble finding ways to stop the Picton Pirates, which beat Jets, 5-1.

Evan Greer was all over the ice for Picton, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Greer scored on the power play 5:55 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Pirates had gotten the advantage when Amherstview's Brandon Gilmour was sent off for slashing. Jack Davison picked up the assist.

The Jets were stymied by Picton netminder Andrew Pearson, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. Pearson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.81 entering the contest.

The Pirates stifled Amherstview's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Picton forced the Jets goalie Troy Paquette to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Picton also got a goal from Steven Csanyi as well. In addition, Picton received assists from Brandon Peever, Jeff Kingdon, Mitchell Smith, Eric Hayes, and Jeremiah Doherty, who each chipped in one.

Amherstview was held below its usual level of production. The Jets average 4.1 goals per game. Amherstview's offense rang up 34 shots on the Pirates' net.

The Jets were led by Isaac Desousa, who scored the team's only goal. Desousa scored 2:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstview. Kyle Pengelly assisted on the tally.

Picton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Pirates, Levi George was ejected from the game. Amherstview's Paquette stopped 38 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
