Davison's big game bests Port Hope in 5-0 Picton win

Behind a great game by Jack Davison, who had four goals and one assist, the Picton Pirates defeated the Port Hope Panthers, 5-0.

Davison got on the scoresheet 6:11 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:53 into the first, at 13:38 into the second, and at 19:00 into the third.

Andrew Pearson frustrated Port Hope's offense all game, and stopped 30 shots en route to a shutout. Pearson managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.22 prior to the game.

Picton forced the Panthers' goaltenders to work in net, taking 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Justin Urquhart made 16 stops and Colin Goody made 10. The Pirates' defensive play was more effective than usual against Port Hope. Picton allows 2.4 goals per game. The Pirates did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering just one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. Picton was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of nine man advantages.

Picton also got points from Mitchell Smith, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Brandon Peever, who had one and Ryan Sizer, who had two.

The Panthers' offense operated below they season average. Port Hope puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. The Panthers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Port Hope registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
