Picton's Hayes deadly on offense in 4-1 win against NapaneePrince Edward Thu, Oct 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates relied on the scoring touch of Eric Hayes, who netted two goals, to beat the Napanee Raiders, 4-1. Hayes found the back of the net 19:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Picton and again while 18:59 into the third to make the score 4-1 Picton.Picton managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Pirates finished below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Picton kept Napanee's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mike Brogee made 39 saves on 43 shots. Picton also got points from Geoff Cleminson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Picton also got a goal from Ryan Sizer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Brian Bunnett, who had two and Kyle Dekeyser and Andrew Burness, who contributed one a piece. The Raiders were held below their usual level of production. Napanee averages 3.7 goals per game. The Raiders were led by Ryan Thistlethwaite, who scored the team's only goal. Thistlethwaite scored 1:11 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. Evan Brown assisted on the tally. Andrew Pearson made 22 saves for the Pirates on 23 shots. Picton registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Napanee incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. For the Raiders, Colin Childerhose was ejected from the game.
