Campbellford stifles Port Hope's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The Campbellford Rebels, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Campbellford and clinched a 6-4 victory.

The Rebels led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Campbellford's Josh Adams' scored at 13:24 in the second period to put the Rebels up 4-1.

Levi George was all over the ice for Campbellford, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. George scored the first of his two goals at 12:02 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Campbellford. George's next tally made the score 6-4 Campbellford with 28 seconds left in the third period. Seamus McDougall assisted on the tally.

The Port Hope Panthers' power play was ineffective against the Rebels' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Campbellford kept Port Hope's goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Urquhart made 26 saves on 32 shots. The Rebels were often in penalty trouble, as it ended with 10 minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Campbellford had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 11 chances.

Campbellford additionally got points from Ryan Crowley, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Connor Turland, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Jon Samis as well. More assists for Campbellford came via Steven Clarke, Hunter Fargey, and Tyler McKown, who contributed one a piece.

The Panthers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 31.0 minutes per game Port Hope had been spending in the box. The Panthers forced the Rebels goalie Cole Mahoney to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Port Hope was helped by Brandon Yorke, who racked up one goal. Yorke scored 12:06 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Campbellford. Reese Burke picked up the assist. Port Hope also got points from Shawn Mackie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brad Heykoop also scored for Port Hope. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Logan Arsenault, who had one.

Cole Mahoney made 32 saves for Campbellford on 36 shots. Team's Mitch Burkitt and Chris Roy were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. For the Panthers, Hayden Verge and Josh Fagan were ejected from the contest.
