Picton rips Napanee, 6-1Strathcona Paper Tue, Sep 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates were firing on all cylinders against the Napanee Raiders, and when the final buzzer sounded Pirates emerged with a 6-1 win. Evan Greer had one goal and four assists to lead Picton. Greer scored short handed 8:13 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Picton. The Pirates found themselves down a man on Riley McGuire's head contact. Picton pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 28 penalty minutes. The Pirates' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Napanee power plays. Picton forced Napanee goalie Kyle Copeland to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. Picton additionally got points from Kenny Murduff, who also finished with two goals and one assist and Mitchell Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Picton also got a goal from Jack Davison as well. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Ryan Sizer, who had one. The Raiders were held below their usual level of production. Napanee averages 4.0 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on the Raiders, as their penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. Napanee was led by Evan Brown, who scored the team's only goal. Brown scored 10:47 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Picton. Adam Wood recorded 19 saves for the Pirates. The Raiders' Copeland stopped 44 shots out of the 50 that he faced. Napanee incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
