Deseronto outlasts Amherstview, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Deseronto Storm escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Amherstview Jets.

Deseronto gained the winning advantage on a goal by Corey Prince 18:25 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Storm pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Deseronto was led by Prince, who tallied one goal.

Jared Boomhower also scored for Deseronto. Other players who recorded assists for Deseronto were Shanye Winner, Mitchell Thompson, Bobby Breadman, Conrad Charlton, Brandon Turner, and Brett Maracle, who each chipped in one.

Amherstview kept the Storm's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dan Corrigan made 37 saves on 39 shots.

The Jets were helped by Jake Hulton, who grabbed one goal. Hulton scored 4:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amherstview. Ryan Banard picked up the assist. Amherstview also got a goal from Mark Christensen as well. More assists for Amherstview came via Jesse Stone, Brent Yake, and Brody Taylor, who contributed one a piece.

Deseronto registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. James DAndrea recorded 20 saves for Amherstview. The Jets totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. For Amherstview, Chandler McDougall and Yake were ejected from the contest.
