Napanee completes comeback, beats Deseronto, 5-4Deseronto & District CC Fri, Sep 21, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Napanee Raiders climbed out of a four-goal hole to beat the Deseronto Storm, 5-4. Napanee never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Raiders trailed 4-0 after a goal by Deseronto's Brett Maracle at 13 seconds in the second period. Napanee tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Luke Emmons at 15:59 in the second period. The Raiders scored the game winner at 9:00 in the third period on a goal by Emmons. Napanee put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Storm to score on any of their seven power plays. Bud Norris also scored for Napanee. Other players who recorded assists for Napanee were Dylan Leduc, who had two and Eric Dwyer, Jayden Adams, Zach Knapp-Hermer, Alex Kwok, and Evan Brown, who contributed one a piece. Deseronto was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The Storm surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Deseronto's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Napanee power plays. The Storm were helped by Alex McConnell, who had one goal. McConnell scored 1:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Deseronto. Cody Stapley picked up the assist. Deseronto additionally got points from Bobby Breadman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Deseronto also got a goal from Jared Boomhower as well. More assists for Deseronto came via Mitchell Thompson, Corey Prince, and Jordan Cannons, who each chipped in one. The Raiders took out Kyle Copeland after he had made 19 saves and installed Mike Brogee in goal, where he finished with zero saves and the win. Napanee ended with 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Copeland was ejected from the game. Dan Corrigan made 21 saves for Deseronto on 26 shots. For the Storm, Stapley and Brett Bateman were ejected from the contest.
