Kemptville boosted by Cooper's play in net, beats Hawkesbury 2-1

Billy Cooper stood on his head and made 33 saves to lead the Kemptville 73s to a 2-1 victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Kemptville was led by Jesse Blais, who racked up one goal. Blais scored 10:30 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kemptville. C Quinn picked up the assist.

The 73s' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Hawkesbury power plays. Kemptville's offense rang up 31 shots on Hawkesbury's net.

Jonathan Cyr also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Jacob Smith and Antonio Roumeliotis, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks stifled the 73s' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hawkesbury's offense rang up 34 shots on Kemptville's net.

The Hawks were led by Tristen Elie, who scored the team's only goal. Elie scored 4:19 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Yanik Laliberte assisted on the tally.

The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Hawkesbury's Carmine Guerriero stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
