Howe, Smiths Falls blank Gloucester, 7-2

Jimmy Howe made 32 saves to complete the shutout and led the Smiths Falls Bears to a 7-2 win against the Gloucester Rangers.

Smiths Falls was led by Jake Butler, who tallied one goal. Butler scored 8:58 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Smiths Falls. Stefano Momesso picked up the assist.

Gloucester was unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Bears surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Smiths Falls averages 3.8 goals per game.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Ryan McCaughan, who also registered one goal and one assist, Chris Maniccia, who also had one goal and one assist, Yannick Crete, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Momesso, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Michael Buonincontri also scored for Smiths Falls. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Jeffrey Carroll, who had two and Cameron Romoff, Blaine Byron, Daniele Disipio, Nic Marchand, and Patrick Sexton, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers forced the Bears goalie Howe to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Gloucester was helped by Maxim Cote, who registered one goal. Cote scored 10:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester. Keegan Rowe assisted on the tally. Gloucester also got a goal from Shane Topf as well. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Christian Leger, who had one.

Smiths Falls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Doug Johnston rejected 31 shots on goal for the Rangers. Gloucester incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
