Brockville rolls over Hawkesbury, 6-2

The Brockville Braves were firing on all cylinders against the Hawkesbury Hawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Braves emerged with a 6-2 win.

Brockville's offense was sparked by Ben Blasko, as he ended with four assists in a victory against Hawkesbury.

The Braves' penalty kill excelled, as Brockville gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:47 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The the Braves penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and three majors for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game Brockville had been spending in the box. The Braves forced the Hawks goalie Nicholas Newport to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Brockville outdid its season average for goals scored. The Braves average 3.5 goals per game.

Brockville additionally got points from Zach Todd, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Hayden Hulton, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Shane Riddell also scored for Brockville. More assists for Brockville came via Nathan Todd, who had three and Brandon Cole, Taylor Henry, and Anthony Pino, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Hawks finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Andrew Pikul made 26 saves for Brockville on 28 shots. The Braves registered two goals on six power play opportunities. For Brockville, Owen Gill, Kevin Kirisits, and Ryan Walter were ejected from the contest. Newport recorded 28 saves for Hawkesbury. Team's Tristen Elie and Justin Villeneuve were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
