Pembroke beats Nepean 4-3 after comeback scareNepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Wed, Feb 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Pembroke Lumber Kings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. A goal by Sam Gleason put Pembroke up 4-2 in the third period, but Nepean pulled to within one on Michael Vered's tally 19:34 into the third period. The Lumber Kings got the win behind a great game by Gleason, who had two goals and one assist. Gleason scored the first of his two goals short handed at 13:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pembroke. A boarding call on Keegan Harper put Pembroke on the penalty kill. Jordan Boucher-Gould provided the assist. Gleason's next tally short handed made the score Pembroke with 3:11 left in the third period. The Lumber Kings had gotten the advantage when the Raiders' Phil Nasca was sent off for hooking. Emilio Audi assisted on the tally. Pembroke's offense rang up 38 shots on Nepean's net. Pembroke also got points from Boucher-Gould, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jordan Larson also scored for Pembroke. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Brendan Mcguire, Stephen Hrehoriak, Patrice Wren, and Timmy Moore, who each chipped in one. The Raiders kept the Lumber Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Darren Smith made 42 saves on 45 shots. Nepean additionally got points from Brent Norris, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nepean also got a goal from Steven Johnston as well. More assists for Nepean came via Cory Durocher, Dalen Hedges, and Ryan Mulder, who contributed one a piece. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ryan Mulder made 34 saves for Nepean on 38 shots. The Raiders incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Nepean ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Norris was ejected from the game.
