The Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Smiths Falls' defensive play was more effective than usual against Kanata. The Bears average 2.9 goals allowed per game. Smiths Falls kept the Stallions' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Lane made 30 saves on 33 shots.

The Bears ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Eardley was ejected from the game. The Stallions ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Kanata, Doug Harvey was ejected from the game.
