Hawkesbury falls to Pembroke in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Pembroke Memorial Center Sun, Feb 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Charlie Connell gave the Pembroke Lumber Kings a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks when he scored 2:56 into the extra period. Pembroke was paced by Connell, who racked up one goal. Hawkesbury was unable to stop the Lumber Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Pembroke eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Pembroke also got a goal from Cody Trowell as well. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Jordan Boucher-Gould, Patrice Wren, Jordan Larson, Owen McDade, and Liam Biard, who contributed one a piece. The Hawks stifled the Lumber Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hawkesbury's offense rang up 38 shots on Pembroke's net. The Hawks were helped by Francis Landers, who had one goal. Landers scored on the power play 18:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Hawkesbury had gained a power play chance when Biard was whistled for cross checking. Roman Ammirato provided the assist. Trent Durocher also scored for Hawkesbury. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Travis Meyer and Brett Varrin, who each chipped in one. Darren Smith recorded 36 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Hawks' Carmine Guerriero stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced.
