Brockville uses shootout to best Ottawa, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brockville Braves defeated the Ottawa Senators in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Ottawa got a shootout goal from Ben Robillard. In addition to the clincher, Brockville got a shootout goal from David Ferreira.

The Braves came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Brockville was down 3-1 after a goal by the Senators' Michael Evelyn at 8:39 in the first period. The Braves knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Shane Riddell at 16:33 in the third period.

Brockville forced Ottawa goalie Charlie Millen to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Braves had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

Brockville was helped by Nathan Todd, who grabbed one goal. Todd scored on the power play 3:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A boarding penalty on Justin Charbonneau had put the Braves on the power play. Anthony Pino picked up the assist. Zach Todd also scored for Brockville. In addition, Brockville received assists from Ben Blasko, Ferreira, Taylor Henry, Erik Brown, and Griffen Molino, who each chipped in one.

The Senators could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Ottawa additionally got points from Eric Clitsome, who also had one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Robillard as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Ryan Collins, Cameron Roth, Chris King, and Hunter Racine, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Pikul recorded 22 saves for Brockville. The Braves incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Charlie Millen made 33 saves for Ottawa on 36 shots. The Senators registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Ottawa ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Paul Landry was ejected from the game.
