Ottawa downs Kanata in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Ottawa Senators' Hunter Racine scored 4:58 into overtime to beat the Kanata Stallions, 4-3 (OT).

Ottawa came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Senators trailed 3-1 after a goal by Kanata's Derian Plouffe at 19:54 in the first period. Ottawa knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Eric Clitsome at 6:30 in the third period.

In the losing effort, the Stallions were led by Plouffe, who registered two goals. Plouffe scored the first of his two goals at 9:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kanata. Nic LaBurn provided the assist. Plouffe's next tally made the score Kanata with six seconds left in the first period. Devin Fullum assisted on the tally.

The Senators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Ottawa forced Kanata goalie Brandon Lane to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots.

Ottawa also got points from Clitsome, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Chad Millett, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Michael Evelyn, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Ryan Collins, who had two and Derek Brown and Ben Robillard, who contributed one a piece.

The Senators were unable to stop the Stallions from sending pucks towards the net, and Kanata eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Kanata also got a goal from Alex Robinson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Curtis Watson, C Blakely, Braedan Moffatt, and Alex Stothart, who each chipped in one.

Ottawa's Alexandre Savard-Belanger stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Senators totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Ottawa ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luc Deschamps was ejected from the game. Brandon Lane made 44 saves for the Stallions on 48 shots. Kanata incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
