Nepean downs Cumberland, 7-4Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Wed, Feb 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Zach Rodier had two points to lead the Nepean Raiders to a 7-4 victory over the Cumberland Grads. In the losing effort, Cumberland was sparked by Travis Douglas, who grabbed two goals. Douglas scored the first of his two goals at 14:46 into the first period to make the score 2-2. David Higgs provided the assist. Douglas' next tally made the score 6-4 Nepean with 6:16 left in the third period. Jeremy Xatruch assisted on the tally. The Grads were unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Nepean surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Raiders average 3.8 goals per game. Nepean also got points from Cory Durocher, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Richard Therrien, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Wyatt Coghill, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Nepean also got a goal from Kenneth Neil as well. More assists for Nepean came via Brandon Watt and Michael Vered, who each chipped in one and Brent Norris, Steven Johnston, and Philippe Drouin, who contributed two a piece. Cumberland forced Nepean goalie Ryan Mulder to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Justin Pelock also scored for Cumberland. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were David Bennett, Bobby Williams, Matthew Morin, and Connor MacLeod, who each chipped in one. Mulder rejected 34 shots on goal for the Raiders. Nepean incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Reilly Turner recorded 36 saves for the Grads. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
