Kanata downs Gloucester, 5-2

Reid Murphy racked up one point to lead the Kanata Stallions to a 5-2 victory over the Gloucester Rangers.

In a losing effort, Gloucester was led by Stevie Ray Adams, who tallied two goals. Adams scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kanata. The Rangers earned a power play opportunity when Alex Robinson was put in the box for kneeing. Dean Derouchie provided the assist. Adams' next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Kanata with 13:43 left in the third period. A too many men penalty on Murphy had put Gloucester on the power play. Daniel Baslyk picked up the assist.

Kanata kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dylan BrindAmour made 41 saves on 46 shots.

Kanata also got points from Curtis Watson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Fabian Walsh, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Derian Plouffe also scored for Kanata. More assists for Kanata came via Joe Breslin, who had two and JJ Hart, Nic LaBurn, Doug Harvey, and Braedan Moffatt, who contributed one a piece.

Gloucester had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances.

In addition, Gloucester received assists from Dylan Giberson, who had two.

The Stallions' Gunner Rivers stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Kanata incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Stallions ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Niles Owen was ejected from the game. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
