Cumberland squeaks by Kanata, 4-2

The Cumberland Grads gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Kanata Stallions.

Cumberland gained the winning advantage on a goal by Riley Hennigar 11:05 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Hennigar had two goals to lead the Grads to victory.

Cumberland's penalty kill excelled, as the Grads gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Kanata was unable to stop Cumberland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Grads eventually piled up 48 shots on goal.

Cumberland also got a goal from Travis Douglas as well. More assists for Cumberland came via Reilly Turner, Nicholas Leguerrier, Bobby Williams, and Sean Naish, who contributed one a piece and Matt Allan and Mark Golberg, who each chipped in two.

The Stallions excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Kanata's offense rang up 34 shots on Cumberland's net.

The Stallions were helped by Braedan Moffatt, who grabbed one goal. Moffatt scored 40 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kanata. Nic LaBurn picked up the assist. Doug Harvey also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from Joe Breslin, who had one and Fabian Walsh, who had two.

The Grads' Turner stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Cumberland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Gunner Rivers rejected 44 shots on goal for Kanata. The Stallions incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
