Laforest leads Carleton Place to shutout victory over Smiths Falls

Justin Laforest recorded a shutout against the Smiths Falls Bears as the Carleton Place Canadians picked up a 3-0 win.

Carleton Place was led by Luke Kasteel, who finished with one goal. Kasteel scored 2:59 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Stephen Bayliss picked up the assist.

The Canadians stifled Smiths Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Carleton Place was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Canadians allow 2.6 goals per game. Carleton Place forced the Bears goalie Patrick Martin to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Carleton Place also got a goal from Garrett Moore as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Devin Campbell, Jackson Howe, Luke Edwards, and Luke Martin, who contributed one a piece.

Smiths Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Bears did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Smiths Falls averages 3.7 goals per game.

Laforest rejected 28 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bears' Martin stopped 43 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Smiths Falls incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
