Nepean vanquishes Gloucester in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Nepean Raiders defeated the Gloucester Rangers in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.

Nepean saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Raiders made the score 3-1 on a goal by Richard Therrien at 17:11 in the second period. Gloucester evened things up at 1-1 on a goal by Phil Nasca at 2:59 in the second period.

Nasca had a great game for Nepean, netting two goals.

The Raiders managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Nepean finished below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders' offense rang up 43 shots on the Rangers' net.

More assists for Nepean came via Vincent Llorca, Mitchell Herlihey, Brent Norris, and Michael Vered, who contributed one a piece.

Gloucester managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Rangers wound up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Gloucester kept Nepean's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Zawadzki made 33 saves on 35 shots.

The Rangers were helped by Stevie Ray Adams, who registered one goal. Adams scored 14:47 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Nepean. Andrew Rossy provided the assist. Shane Topf also scored for Gloucester. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Dylan Giberson, who had two.

The Raiders registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Dylan BrindAmour made 40 saves for Gloucester on 42 shots. The Rangers registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
