Carleton Place takes care of Gloucester early, wins 8-0

The Carleton Place Canadians opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to an 8-0 over the Gloucester Rangers.

Kelly Summers had a great game for Carleton Place, netting two goals. Summers scored at 4:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place and again while 7:29 into the first to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place.

Gloucester's power play was ineffective against the Canadians' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Gloucester power plays. The Canadians featured an improved defense during the game. Carleton Place allows 2.6 goals per game. The Canadians' offense rang up 39 shots on the Rangers' net. Carleton Place surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Canadians average 4.0 goals per contest.

Carleton Place also got points from Kevin Dufour, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Lucas Gonu, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Evan Peterson, who also had one goal and one assist. Carleton Place also got a goal from Nic Erb as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Alex Globke, who had three, Elias Ghantous, Jim Pearson, Anthony McVeigh, Brock Edwards, and Stephen Bayliss, who contributed one a piece, and Jide Idowu and Garrett Moore, who each chipped in two.

Gloucester stifled Carleton Place's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rangers could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Gloucester puts an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game.

Justin Laforest recorded 22 saves for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Dylan BrindAmour made 31 saves for the Rangers on 39 shots. Gloucester incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
