Nepean blows out Kanata, 7-3

The Nepean Raiders had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the Kanata Stallions.

Mitchell Herlihey was all over the ice for Nepean, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Herlihey scored on the power play 10:22 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. The Raiders had gotten the advantage when Kanata's JJ Hart was sent off for cross checking. Zach Rodier picked up the assist.

The Stallions' six penalties came back to haunt them, as Kanata let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Nepean's offense rang up 39 shots on the Stallions' net. The Raiders outdid their season average for goals scored. Nepean has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Nepean additionally got points from Cory Durocher, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Kenneth Neil, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Phil Nasca, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Rodier, who also registered one goal and one assist. Nepean also got a goal from Brandon Watt as well. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Richard Therrien, Tanner Williams, and Cameron Yarwood, who contributed one a piece and Dalen Hedges and Vincent Llorca, who each chipped in two.

Kanata kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Mulder made 28 saves on 31 shots.

The Stallions were led by Joe Breslin, who had one goal and one assist. Breslin scored on the power play 2:41 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Nepean. Kanata had gained a power play chance when Williams was whistled for high sticking. Hart provided the assist. Nic LaBurn also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from Derian Plouffe, who had two and Curtis Watson and Braedan Moffatt, who contributed one a piece.

Nepean incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Stallions' Brandon Lane stopped 32 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Kanata incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
