Nepean blows out Cumberland, 8-3

The Nepean Raiders had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Cumberland Grads.

Nepean got the win with help from a great game by Richard Therrien, who had one goal and three assists. Therrien scored 1:12 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Nepean. Mitchell Herlihey provided the assist.

The Raiders pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Nepean made Grads' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots and forcing 35 saves. Reilly Turner made 30 stops and Devan Tremblay made five. The Raiders outdid their season average for goals scored. Nepean averages 3.7 goals per game.

Nepean also got points from Cory Durocher, who also racked up one goal and three assists, Dalen Hedges, who also registered one goal and one assist, Vincent Llorca, who also had one goal and one assist, Kenneth Neil, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Herlihey, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Nepean also got a goal from Steven Johnston as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Brandon Watt, who had two and David Muth and Wyatt Coghill, who each chipped in one.

Cumberland's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Nepean power plays. The Grads forced the Raiders goalie Ryan Mulder to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Andrew DeBrincat also scored for Cumberland. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Matt Allan, Jeremy Xatruch, Matthew Morin, Riley Hennigar, Justin Pelock, and Mark Golberg, who contributed one a piece.

Nepean's Mulder stopped 41 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Cumberland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
