Rivers, Kanata blank Kemptville, 6-0

Gunner Rivers was superb between the pipes for the Kanata Stallions, as he did not allow a goal in a 6-0 victory over the Kemptville 73s.

Kanata was paced by Nic LaBurn, who racked up one goal. LaBurn scored 14:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kanata. Fabian Walsh assisted on the tally.

The Stallions made Kemptville's goaltenders to work all game long, ripping 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Billy Cooper made 15 stops and Jacob Tugnutt made 11. Kanata's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Kemptville power plays. The Stallions found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Kanata has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Kanata also got points from Alex Robinson, who also registered one goal and two assists. Kanata also had goals scored by Derian Plouffe, who had two and Teddy Suckow and Reid Murphy, who each put in one. More assists for Kanata came via Devin Fullum, who had one and C Blakely, Braedan Moffatt, and Alex Stothart, who contributed two a piece.

The 73s could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Kemptville puts an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game.

The Stallions' Rivers stopped 28 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Kanata incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The 73s incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
