Hennigar's goals lift Cumberland to 6-2 victory over Hawkesbury

The Cumberland Grads relied on the scoring touch of Riley Hennigar, who netted two goals, to beat the Hawkesbury Hawks, 6-2.

Hennigar's tallies came on the power play at 5:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland and 7:37 into the second to make the score 3-1 Cumberland.

Cumberland's penalty kill excelled, as the Grads gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Cumberland stifled Hawkesbury's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Grads' offense rang up 33 shots on the Hawks' net. Cumberland surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Grads average 3.0 goals per contest.

Cumberland additionally got points from Colin Kruse, who also registered one goal and one assist, Travis Douglas, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Mark Golberg, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Matt Allan also scored for Cumberland. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Andrew DeBrincat, who had two and Nicholas Leguerrier, David Bennett, Bobby Williams, Matthew Morin, Justin Pelock, Sean Naish, and Nick Martin, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury was helped by Ryan Kruss, who racked up one goal. Kruss scored 3:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cumberland. William Plamondon assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Trent Durocher as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Roman Ammirato, Zach Car, and Travis Meyer, who contributed one a piece.

Reilly Turner made 21 saves for Cumberland on 23 shots. The Grads incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Carmine Guerriero rejected 27 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
