Brockville vanquishes Cornwall in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brockville Braves defeated the Cornwall Colts in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout. Cornwall's shootout goal was scored by Michael Pontarelli. Brockville also got a shootout goal from David Ferreira.

The Braves' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cornwall power plays.

Brockville was helped by Ben Blasko, who registered one goal. Blasko scored 15:59 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brockville. Chris Roll picked up the assist. Owen Gill also scored for Brockville. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Ferreira, Nathan Todd, and Aaron Hickie, who each chipped in one.

The Colts stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brockville was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Cornwall was helped by Billy Ulrick, who finished with one goal. Ulrick scored 5:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Jake Martin provided the assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Marly Quince as well. More assists for Cornwall came via Carl Belizario and Mitch Zion, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Pikul made 30 saves for the Braves on 32 shots. Brockville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jordan Piccolino recorded 17 saves for the Colts. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
