Ottawa holds on for 5-4 win against NepeanJim Durrell Complex-Peplinski Wed, Jan 30, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Ottawa Senators held on for a 5-4 victory. A goal by Ryan Collins put Ottawa up 3-1 in the third period, but Nepean pulled to within one on Mitchell Herlihey's tally 6:30 into the third period. Hunter Racine was all over the ice for the Senators, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Racine scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:55 into the third period to make the score 4-4. A high sticking penalty on Michael Vered had put Ottawa on the power play. Eric Clitsome assisted on the tally. Racine's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Ottawa with 4:52 left in the third period. Greg Jansz provided the assist. Ottawa also got points from Collins, who also registered two goals and two assists and Jansz, who also tallied one goal and one assist. The Raiders forced the Senators goalie Charlie Millen to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Nepean was helped by Brent Norris, who finished with one goal. Norris scored 1:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Steven Johnston assisted on the tally. Nepean additionally got points from Dalen Hedges, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Richard Therrien also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Kenneth Neil, who had two and Cory Durocher, Vincent Llorca, and Phil Nasca, who each chipped in one. Ottawa's Millen stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Senators incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Ryan Mulder rejected 22 shots on goal for the Raiders. Nepean incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
