Hawkesbury holds on for 3-1 win against Kanata

The Kanata Stallions tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Hawkesbury Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

Hawkesbury made the score 3-0 on a goal by Holden Anderson at 2:42 in the second period, and Kanata got as close as 3-1 when Connor Cobbold scored 3:27 into the third period.

Peter Kapelanski was all over the ice for the Hawks, as he tallied two goals in the win. Kapelanski found the back of the net 20 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury and again while 3:52 into the first to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury.

Hawkesbury's offense rang up 42 shots on the Stallions' net.

Hawkesbury additionally got points from Anderson, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Roman Ammirato, who had one and Yanik Laliberte and Carl Faucher, who contributed two a piece.

Kanata was held below its usual level of production. The Stallions average 3.2 goals per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Curtis Watson and Derian Plouffe, who each chipped in one.

Carmine Guerriero made 25 saves for the Hawks on 26 shots. Hawkesbury incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kanata's Brandon Lane stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Stallions incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
