Early goals doom Smiths Falls, falls to Pembroke, 8-1

The Smiths Falls Bears fell behind early, and the Pembroke Lumber Kings kept piling on the points on the way to an 8-1 victory.

Stephen Hrehoriak had two goals and two assists to lead Pembroke. Hrehoriak scored the first of his two goals at 14:51 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. Derek Diaz provided the assist. Hrehoriak's next tally made the score 4-0 Pembroke with four seconds left in the first period. Ben Dalpe picked up the assist.

Smiths Falls was stymied by the Lumber Kings netminder Darren Smith, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Smith certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.77 entering the contest.

Pembroke put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bears to score on any of their three power plays. The Lumber Kings bested their season scoring average. Pembroke has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Pembroke additionally got points from Brendan Mcguire, who also had one goal and two assists, Jordan Boucher-Gould, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Dalpe, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Patrice Wren, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jordan Larson, who also had one goal and two assists. Pembroke also got a goal from Charlie Connell as well. More assists for Pembroke came via Carl Greco, Sam Gleason, Emilio Audi, and Timmy Moore, who contributed one a piece.

Smiths Falls stifled the Lumber Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bears were held below their usual level of production. Smiths Falls averages 3.8 goals per game.

Pembroke incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Patrick Martin made 14 saves before being replaced by Jimmy Howe, who took the loss and made five saves. The Bears incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
