The Smiths Falls Bears tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Ottawa Senators would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. Ottawa took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Smiths Falls storm back on a Tyler Akeson goal 14:01 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Senators got the win thanks to a great game by Ryan Collins, who had one goal and two assists. Collins scored 1:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa. Justin Charbonneau assisted on the tally. Ottawa forced the Bears goalie Patrick Martin to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Chris King also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Greg Jansz, who had two and Luc Deschamps, Derek Brown, and Michael Evelyn, who contributed one a piece. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Nic Marchand as well. Other players who recorded assists for Smiths Falls were Blaine Byron, who had two and Chris Maniccia and Jeffrey Carroll, who each chipped in one. Charlie Millen recorded 25 saves for the Senators. Ottawa incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Smiths Falls' Martin stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Bears incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
