Mulder, Nepean blank Smiths Falls, 3-0

Ryan Mulder recorded a shutout against the Smiths Falls Bears as the Nepean Raiders picked up a 3-0 win.

Nepean was sparked by Richard Therrien, who finished with one goal. Therrien scored 4:53 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Nepean.

The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Nepean was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Raiders average 2.8 goals allowed per game. Nepean's offense rang up 35 shots on Smiths Falls' net.

Nepean additionally got points from Cory Durocher, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dalen Hedges also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Kenneth Neil, Brent Norris, and Zach Rodier, who each chipped in one.

The Bears could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Smiths Falls averages 3.8 goals per game. The Bears kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mulder made 44 saves on 44 shots.

Nepean incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jimmy Howe rejected 32 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
